Question: How many artists does it take to change a lightbulb? Answer: Two. One to change the bulb, and one to say "I could do that!" When I learned about the original daily painting blogger, Duane Keiser, I thought, "I could do that!" My thanks to Duane and the other leaders in the Painting-A-Day movement.

Charcoal sketch - 12/16/08
Here is another example of a school drawing. Charcoal drawing is really painting in black and white. The only difference between drawing and painting is the matter of color, and the process of applying paste with a brush instead of dry pigment. All the other aspects are the same. It makes a lot of sense to go to an advanced, or at least intermediate level in drawing before getting into painting. I think the learning curve is faster. Less frustrating, too.
